Claude Gilbert LIMAN (Rocky)
May 7, 1943 - September 5, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce that Dr. Claude 'Rocky' Liman was struck by and passed away as a result of a vehicle accident while cycling with his partner Wanda.
Born May 7, 1943 in Westchester, New York, Claude was the eldest of 3 children of Edwin and Louella Liman.
He is dearly missed by his partner Wanda, his brother Sandy (Colleen, Twisp WA) and his sister Dusty (Bellevue, ID), son Ben, daughters Sarah and Rebecca and his grandson, Grayson.
He was recently predeceased by his son Jesse Liman of Thunder Bay.
Claude was a lifelong active golfer, cyclist, marathoner and downhill and cross-country skier competing on the Dartmouth Ski Team and completing the American Birkebeiner ski race several years.
A Dartmouth College alumni, he completed his Ph.D. in Colorado. He emigrated to Canada and was an American literature professor teaching at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay between 1973 and 2005 during which he published several books of poetry and short stories.
His Zion United church friends in London appreciated his voice in the choir and his passionate 'green thumb' in their community garden.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service. Donations in his name may be made to the Zion United Church in London.
